MALAYSIA: Police in Seremban have detained a 24-year-old man suspected of abusing his two-year-old stepson. The incident reportedly took place inside a car at a petrol station along the Seremban-Jelebu road. The arrest followed a report filed by the child's biological mother, prompting authorities to act swiftly and apprehend the suspect near Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital. The alleged abuse is part of a troubling history of assaults on the child.
The victim had been subjected to repeated physical abuse at their home in Jalan Rasah, resulting in injuries. The child is currently being treated for reddish bruises believed to have been caused by pinching. The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, tested negative in a preliminary drug screening. "Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred inside a car occupied by the victim, his mother, who is in her 20s, and his stepfather at a petrol station along the Seremban-Jelebu road," Tuanku said. The case highlights the urgent need for measures to prevent child abuse.
The suspect has been remanded for seven days to facilitate further investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspected abuse to authorities.
