SELANGOR: A massive crocodile, measuring over 10 feet in length, was successfully rescued from a storm drain near a petrol station in Sungai Manggis, Banting, Kuala Langat. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department responded quickly to an emergency call at 9.07 am and managed to secure the reptile, which weighed more than 200 kilograms, with the help of eight personnel from the Banting Fire and Rescue Station. Crocodile incidents of this nature are not entirely uncommon, as large reptiles sometimes wander into populated areas in search of food or shelter. Such occurrences have been reported in various regions, highlighting the need for rapid response teams to handle these potentially dangerous situations safely. "The reptile was successfully captured at 10.48 am and is currently being held at the Banting fire station before being handed over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan)," he said.
The rescue operation underscores the importance of maintaining specialized teams equipped to deal with wildlife emergencies, ensuring the safety of both humans and animals. The crocodile will now be transferred to the appropriate wildlife authorities, where it will be assessed and relocated to a safer environment.
