**Fisherman Found Drowned After Failing to Resurface While Repairing Boat** BAGAN DATUK – A 55-year-old man tragically drowned after he disappeared while inspecting a boat propeller in the river at Pelantar B10, Jalan Tepi Sungai, Hutan Melintang. His body was discovered this morning. According to Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the Assistant Director of Operations at the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, they received a distress call regarding the incident at 4: 28 PM yesterday. The victim, identified as a Chinese man, was last seen conducting maintenance work on the boat' s propeller underwater and failed to resurface.
Upon arriving at the scene, rescue teams faced challenging conditions due to strong river currents and heavy rain, which complicated the rescue efforts. Sabarodzi noted that the search was temporarily suspended at 7: 15 PM due to these adverse conditions. Rescue operations resumed early this morning, and the victim' s body was found approximately 10 meters from where he was believed to have drowned. The discovery was made at 8: 07 AM.
A medical officer from the Ministry of Health confirmed the man' s death at the scene. Subsequently, his body was handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary procedures.
