KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Bersama Malaysia is aiming to field 70 percent of its election candidates under the age of 50 for the upcoming polls in Johor and Negeri Sembilan. This initiative is part of the party's broader strategy to engage younger voters and enhance female representation, as announced by the party's president, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, during a recent event in Negeri Sembilan. The newly formed Bersama party, launched just three weeks ago, has been gaining traction with 25,000 members already signing up. The party's focus on younger candidates aligns with its overall strategy to appeal to a youthful demographic.
Rafizi emphasized that the selection process will be based on the suitability of candidates for specific seats, rather than solely on gender or ethnicity. "We need women candidates of calibre from the Malay, Chinese and Indian communities to join us," Rafizi Ramli said. This statement highlights the party's commitment to inclusivity and diversity in its candidate selection process. The decision by Bersama to remain independent from political coalitions allows it greater flexibility in contesting more seats, potentially impacting the political landscape by introducing fresh perspectives and new leadership. As the party continues to grow, it aims to increase its membership to 50,000, further solidifying its place in the political arena.
