TERENGGANU: In a decisive operation, the Marine Police Region Three seized 5,150 litres of diesel during a raid at a premises in Hulu Jabor, Terengganu. The raid, conducted on June 14, led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man who failed to produce the necessary permits for storing and handling diesel. The operation was initiated after suspicions of illegal activities at the site. The raid highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal fuel storage in Malaysia, a significant issue contributing to economic and environmental concerns.
Such operations are part of broader initiatives to enforce fuel regulations and prevent illegal trade, which has reportedly caused losses near RM60 million over four years due to wildlife and human conflicts. "The total value of the seizure in the operation is estimated at RM51,580.50," Khairuddin said. The seized diesel and the man arrested have been handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for further investigation and action.
